The council is currently exploring the possibility of running a community bus between the Burnside Civic Centre and Waterfall Gully. The bus would run on a continuous five-hour loop each weekend, between 7am-12 pm during summer and 10am-3 pm in winter.

The council is also considering whether the service should be free or at a cost (gold coin).

The bus service is in response to traffic safety and parking issues on Waterfall Gully. There is a high volume of traffic using the road and car park for walking trails in Mt Lofty. There are currently 800 vehicles coming in and out of Waterfall Gully on a Saturday morning. The one car park has just 70 spaces and is significantly inadequate to meet the current demands.

Through the use of smart technology, improved parking bays and a community bus I am hoping that we can alleviate the congestion and frustration of accessing the Lofty walking track.

Council will a consider a report on this new service in the coming months.
